Exclamation A note from the Administrator

As some of you will probably be coming here alot, wether it is to talk about drums or to talk in the general discussion board about the weather or the baseball game lastnight, please remember that flaming should in general be avoided.

Sometimes a discussion gets heated and arguments get blown out of proportion, so try to moderate what you say and how you say it. I find profanity to be the result of limited vocabulary on the part of the poster, should he or she find it necessary to subject a topic or direct a comment using a short list of profane colorful metaphors, it becomes obvious as to their grasp of the English language, and the rest of us either find it sad or pathetic.

So my fellow drum lovers, go forth and multiply, just try to do so in a professional manner. Nevertheless, profanity will be used, and that's understandable to an extent, sometimes I go off like a sailor myself, just be mindful of the use thereof.

Forum Rules
In an effort to keep it simple, there are just a few rules to remember when posting on the Pearl Drummers Forum.

1) No profanity. Get your thoughts across without it please.
2) No personal bashing or attacks. Disagreements will happen, please keep it civil.
3) Pearl is not responsible for incorrect info or the contents of any message posted by any member other than the designated Pearl Forum in-house moderators.
4) No advertising, spaming, or solicitations of any kind.
5) No selling. Use ebay or trade with your local dealer.
6) You warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-orientated, pornographic, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws.

Failure to abide by the above rules can result in a member being gagged (losing the right to post for a specified period of time) or banned (no longer welcome to post ever) depending upon the severity and the circumstances.

The rules from Chit-Chat are also good for he rest of the board.

Rule No. 1
No political activism: In general, stay away from starting political threads. Discuss politics with your family, friends, the mail man, just stay away from it here.

Rule No. 2
No threads discussing religion: some topics might be borderline, so post at your own discretion with this rule in mind. If the mods don't think it needs to be around, they will delete it or close the thread.

Rule No. 3
The mods have complete say over what goes on, don't argue with them, don't question their actions. If they decide to delete something or censor something, don't e-mail or question them, it's their decision.

Rule No. 4
The Chit Chat area might get a little rough, so you need to have some thick skin. Respect each other and don't try and start any flame wars...play nice. The other rules to the rest of the forum still apply here. Remember this forum is not a free ticket to encite forum riots.

Rule No. 5
Control your use of profanity. If a word cannot be said on Commercial Television (ABC, CBS,or NBC) Don't Say It Here....

Since it seems many people have forgot one of the rules posted awhile back, here it is again:

Rule #2 states:

2) No personal bashing or attacks. Disagreements will happen, please keep it civil.

That applies to members AND artists. Any artist, whether they play Pearl or not are entitled to respect. You may dislike them but they are in most cases far more accomplished then most of the people here and have earned the right to be treated with respect. Comments like (Example) "Barker sucks", "Portnoy and dream theater are queer", "Peart blows" are not acceptable and will be deleted. If somone continues to make posts in violation of this rule, they will be suspended.

We are not saying you cannot express your dislike for a band or artist, what we are saying is make an intelligent post explaining your reasoning. (Example):

"I don't like Barker, i find his playing style boring and i hate the way his drums sound".

That is ok. You explain your reasoning and most importantly, you do it in an intelligent manner. If your not capable of doing that or are just too lazy, then say nothing or face the consequences.

I have talked to DOZENS of artists about coming on the forum and virtually all of them said (in one form or another) they had been on here looking and saw how immature and ignorant some of the people were towards artists that they felt uncomfortable. This has to change. If you want this forum to have more artists come on board and talk, many of you need to grow up and act like adults.

Since it was'nt clear and people are confused:

Cursing is NOT ALLOWED. It does'nt matter if its done with stars (Asterisks) or other cymbals. Your still implying the same thing.

Language filter or your own filters, do NOT curse. The posts will be deleted and if it continues you will be banned.

Whether you are banned or the post is deleted really comes down to your past record. If i see you curse and search your post history and find lots more cases of language issues, it will be a ban, if it's a one time thing or it happens VERY rarely, you may simply get a warning.
