Nah, but they're both nice sounding lines. Go try some and buy the ones you prefer. I'm quite partial to the Byzance range, might get a set for playing softer stuff.
Is this the consensus? That byzance's suit softer stuff?
I mainly play rock. I assumed medium traditional byzance would be good for this?

The byzance trads are great for rock. But where as K's blend in the mix, the Byzances are more cutting through the mix.

They're not cutting to the point where they are grating, are they?
I'm getting cold feet :S I don't want them to sound too harsh.

In no way. Not at all. They cut through just enough, then darken and mellow to blend nicely in the mix. Take a look at the meinl website. Especially the Traditional Medium Thin Crashes. 16", 17" and 18" in particular.

Your best bet would be to go and try some out in person.

They're a very clean sounding cymbal. They'll cut through in rock, but not to the point that they sound overpowering.

Imagine a stabbing dagger and a chainsaw. The chainsaw leaves gibbering chunks on the ground, the stabbing dagger gets in and out without causing much of a mess. The byzances are more like the stabbing dagger.

Reason I said softer stuff is that I generally play music that needs Metal-X levels of cut.

Nobody's consider price? Is the cheap hispanic gonna be the first guy to bring money into this?!?! I'm also a K player that has heard and liked all Byzances but they seem to be a tad pricey!

Go and listen to them.. and then decide, after figuring out which pieces hit your ears best.

cymbals cost too much money to take a chance on a crappy sounding thing arriving in your mailbox, that you'll need to re-sell at a loss.

be smart with your process, you'll be happier.
